We Can Do Better

I love Chilliwack. It's HOME to me and my family.

Chilliwack is a great city with a strong sense of community and many amazing facilities and services.

We also have our challenges due to our rapid growth.

Our City is doing a good job. I believe we can do BETTER.

I've thought long and hard about running for public office.

People who know me well aren't surprised - it makes sense to them.

For the people of Chilliwack who don't know me, this is why you should vote for me on October 15th:

  • There is a lot more work to be done and I'm a hard worker.

  • I'm tenacious and a problem-solver.

  • I have energy, empathy and a passion to make Chilliwack a better place for families.

  • I'm a leader and a team player and I believe that together we can achieve incredible things for this amazing city.

About

Chilliwack Local

I graduated school, married, raised my family, volunteer and work in Chilliwack.

I've lived here for over 40 years and am passionate about this beautiful city of ours.

Chilliwack has changed immensely and my goal is to work with you and the

City Council team to ensure we grow our infrastructure and systems now and in

the future, whilst maintaining our values and community spirit.

"There are 24 hours in a day:  I work 8, I sleep 8

and there are 8 more hours that I cannot waste.

I want to put that time to good use working on behalf

of the people of Chilliwack."

Nothing holds more importance for me than family.

My wife Natalie works in Management for the Correctional Service of Canada. We live in rural Chilliwack on a small hobby farm.

My daughters, Sarah and Jenna, both attended local schools and were extremely active in competitive sports and music. Natalie has two adult children, and we now have 3 grandchildren.

I started Fairfield Island Plumbing and Heating 25 years ago. I understand the needs, frustrations, and priorities of local businesses, which are the backbone of our economy.

We started our "dream business", The Twisted Thistle Restaurant, in 2019, which sadly became one of many COVID casualties.

Recently, a friend and I re-opened the Lindell Beach General Store. We hope the store and adjacent park area will become a local gathering place again.

I am very much a hands-on guy. I get things done! I am never on the sidelines. When I commit to a project,  I'll do what I can to achieve goals and to make a difference.

I spent 25 fun-filled years coaching youth soccer; being a mentor and leader to many children who have now gone on to play university and semi-pro levels.

One of my proudest moments was being named 2013 Sport Hero by the Chilliwack Times for my involvement with Chilliwack FC youth soccer.

Thanks to the positive support for my businesses from our community, I have been fortunate to be able to give back.

We are major sponsors of the Chilliwack Hospice Society,

the Chilliwack Children's Charitable Foundation,

and Chilliwack Community Services.

We also donate sports equipment to underprivileged local youth and I've sat on many local Boards including Chilliwack FC, Chilliwack Fraser Rotary and the Chilliwack Fraser Charitable Foundation.

Healthcare is important to our community and I'm part of the Chilliwack Health Foundation's 500 Club.

As a proud and active member of the Chilliwack Fraser Rotary Club I have participated in many community volunteer activities such as the Rotary Trail clean-ups, the Chilliwack Fire Training Grounds, Zero Barrier School Playground projects, Meals on Wheels, the Pediatric wing at Chilliwack General Hospital, the building and maintenance of the  Gwynne Vaughan Park Pavilion as well as raising money for YMCA Kids programs and a CT Scanner for Chilliwack General Hospital.

I am a multiple Paul Harris Fellow and recently received a Polio Plus award from Rotary International.

During my term as President of Chilliwack Fraser Rotary, I led a humanitarian mission to the Philippines and strengthened our ties with our sister club in Japan.

Natalie and my daughter Jenna came on our mission to bring clean water to a village in the Philippines. I am so blessed that my family supports and participates in everything I do.

My daughter, Sarah, is part of my campaign team, along with Natalie.
